Digital security is an important part of Hexspoor’s services. That is why we continuously work to protect our systems, processes and information. Recently, Hexspoor received the MMOX Cyber Secure Certificate, recognising the steps we have taken to further strengthen the foundation of our digital security.
Leonard Kranendonk, IT Project Manager at Hexspoor, shares more about this process and how we continue to work on digital security throughout our organisation.
“As an e-fulfilment company, we work with data and digital systems every day. From receiving orders and managing stock to processing and shipping orders. In doing so, we handle data belonging to our clients and their customers. Handling this information with care and properly securing our systems and processes is therefore an important part of our services. We also have to comply with laws and regulations relating to privacy and digital security.”
“Digital security has been an important focus within Hexspoor for many years. Cyber threats continue to evolve, and laws and regulations change as well. This means we need to keep taking a critical look at how we protect our information and systems.
Together with our cybersecurity partner MMOX, we reviewed the way we work. We looked at existing risks, the measures already in place and areas where further improvements could be made. This involved more than just technology. We also looked at our processes, internal procedures and security awareness among colleagues.
For example, we renewed our internal data network. This gives us better insight into what is happening within our network and enables us to better secure connected devices. Internet traffic is also monitored by MMOX, and access to websites known to be unsafe is automatically blocked.
The process confirmed once again that information security goes far beyond IT alone. Technical measures are important, but the way we deal with digital security as an organisation every day is just as important.”
“Employees play an important role in information security. Many risks can be reduced through the choices we make every day. This includes recognising phishing emails, handling passwords carefully and sharing information securely.
That is why we invest not only in systems and technical solutions, but also in the knowledge and awareness of our colleagues. From their first day at Hexspoor, every new colleague receives guidance on working securely and is introduced to Hexspoor’s Golden Security Rules. We also train employees to recognise potential risks and respond to them appropriately. If there is ever any doubt, colleagues can always contact IT to have a suspicious situation checked. This helps us identify potential risks at an early stage.
Ultimately, digital security is something we are all responsible for.”
“The certificate shows that Hexspoor has achieved a basic level of cybersecurity according to MMOX’s approach. This means that we have taken measures to reduce cyber risks and that digital security receives ongoing attention within our organisation. Reaching this basic level does not automatically mean that an organisation receives the certificate. MMOX awards the Cyber Secure Certificate to the best-performing organisations within its assessment.
We are, of course, proud of this achievement, but we are also continuing to look ahead. Our cybersecurity is reassessed annually, and we will continue to make further improvements over the coming year. Our goal is to achieve the MMOX Cyber Secure Certificate again in 2027.”
“No, complete protection against cyber incidents does not exist. New risks continue to emerge, which means information security is never truly finished. We continue to expand our toolbox of security measures.
For us, the certificate is a valuable confirmation that we have taken the right steps, but it is not an end point. Together with MMOX, we continue to critically review our processes, systems and security measures and make improvements where necessary.
Digital security is not a one-off project. It is something that requires our continuous attention.”
