Every year, the historic Kasteel Stapelen in Boxtel is transformed into a magical place for children and their families. For a few weeks, the castle becomes the temporary home of Sinterklaas, a much-loved figure at the heart of a Dutch tradition celebrated in the weeks leading up to 5 December.
The event, called Stapel op Sint, brings this tradition to life. And at Hexspoor, we’re pleased to support this special local initiative.
During the event, children can step inside the castle and discover what life is like during Sinterklaas’s stay. The smell of freshly baked pepernoten (traditional spiced biscuits) fills the rooms, cheerful songs can be heard throughout the castle, and colourful decorations create a festive atmosphere. Children can watch Sinterklaas’s helpers, known as Pieten, wrapping presents and baking treats. Sometimes they can even lend a hand. They can also explore Sinterklaas’s bedroom and study, making the visit a memorable experience for the whole family.
Stapel op Sint is an initiative supported by BoxtelVooruit, bringing families together to enjoy a special part of Dutch culture. At Hexspoor, we believe it’s important to stay connected to the community around us. Boxtel is our home, and we’re happy to contribute to initiatives that bring people together.
Thanks to the support of local businesses and organisations, children and their families can visit the castle free of charge.
