On Thursday, May 21, many Hexspoor colleagues once again got on their bikes during Bike to Work Day 2026. From colleagues cycling in from Boxtel to sporty rides from Den Bosch, Eindhoven, and Tilburg: together we created an energetic start to the workday while contributing to a more sustainable future.
As a reward, colleagues enjoyed a fresh smoothie from the special Hexspoor smoothie bar. A healthy start to the day and a great moment to reflect together on all the kilometers cycled. Whether it was a short ride or a long-distance trip, every kilometer counted.
Cycling to work is about more than exercise. It brings fresh energy, reduces CO₂ emissions, and contributes to sustainable mobility. That’s why we encourage our colleagues every year to consciously choose the bicycle, even when part of the journey is combined with public transport.
Together, we covered an impressive total of 614 kilometers during this edition, a result we are proud of!
Just like last year, our cycling kilometers were not only about vitality. For every kilometer cycled, Hexspoor uses a saved commuting allowance of €0.25 per kilometer. This amount is doubled to €0.50 per kilometer and donated to the Cycling out of Poverty Foundation (CooP-Africa). Together, we covered a total of 614 kilometers, resulting in a donation of €307.
With this contribution, we support projects in Kenya and Uganda where bicycles are used to create more opportunities for students, farmers, and entrepreneurs. For many people there, a bicycle is not a sports or leisure item, but an essential means of transport. It enables them to get to school on time, cover longer distances to work, or access medical care more quickly. In rural areas where facilities are often far apart, a single bicycle can literally make the difference between having or not having access to education, work, and healthcare.
