This year, we are celebrating a very special milestone at Hexspoor. Our colleague and family member, Michel Hexspoor, has been with the company for an incredible 40 years! Over the course of four decades, he has witnessed nearly every major development within Hexspoor firsthand.
Michel started in 1986 as an on-call employee in the bookbinding department of his father, Gerard Hexspoor. When the bindery was later sold to a Belgian company, he was given the opportunity to move with it. However, he consciously chose to remain with the family business, Hexspoor, and transitioned into E-fulfilment instead. It is a decision we are still grateful for today.
Starting as an order picker, Michel progressed to his current role as an all-round warehouse employee. These days, he begins every workday at 7:00 a.m. by replenishing the warehouse, ensuring that the order pickers can get straight to work at 9:00 a.m. Thanks to his many years of experience, he knows the warehouse better than anyone and has become a trusted point of contact for many colleagues.
On the day of his anniversary, Michel was surprised by a group of colleagues who arrived early to celebrate the occasion. Following heartfelt speeches by Sjors and Tijn, he was honored with flowers, gifts, and personal congratulations.
The celebrations continued throughout the day. The company was festively decorated, and tiles featuring some of Michel’s well-known sayings could be found throughout the building. Even his picking cart received a special makeover, complete with flags and references to LEGO, PSV, Max Verstappen, and of course one of his most famous expressions: “That’s for the young guys.”
During the coffee break, all colleagues gathered to mark this special milestone while enjoying a slice of cake together.
The surprise meant a great deal to Michel.
As a family business, we are proud of colleagues who dedicate many years to Hexspoor, and Michel is a wonderful example of that. Through his commitment, loyalty, humor, and involvement, he has made a significant contribution to both his colleagues and the company.
Michel, thank you for everything you have meant to Hexspoor over the past 40 years. We are proud of this remarkable milestone and hope to continue benefiting from your knowledge, experience, and great company for many years to come.
